Our Procedure

Every visit begins with an inspection. As we approach your home, we have already begun by observing the landscape, the position of the chimney, how tall it is, and its general condition.

After introducing ourselves, we will go to the chimney to make a quick assessment of your needs. We will be looking for clearances to combustibles, signs of malfunction, and any damages. Depending on the appliance we may remove covers or open doors for deeper inspection.

Before beginning to sweep, we will lay down floor covers. There is no need to protect your furniture, our methods keep the dust and soot in the system for safe removal.

In most cases we will sweep the chimney from the bottom up. This allows us to be sure the soot does not leave your appliance until we take it out. However, when the situation calls for it, we do sweep chimneys from the top. We are equipped with several kinds of brushes to tackle all situations. From regular sweeping to power sweeping, we are ready to serve you!

Every chimney should have its top inspected. We will be looking for any damage to the structure, building defects, and any missing parts.

After the chimney has been swept, our technician or mechanic will prepare a report on his findings. He will also prepare a proposal for any repairs that may be needed. The visit is not over until he has gone over the report with you and answered any questions you may have.

Will you go up on my roof?

Most roofs are not too steep for us to go up to inspect the chimney top. Some roofs are quite steep. For those we have safety climbing gear to be able to complete the inspection. However, such steep roofs may require an additional fee for access. If there is a need for climbing gear, we will discuss the issue with you before proceeding. You are always in control.

Will you do a video inspection?

A video inspection is not a normal part of himney service where a Level 1 inspection is being done. Sometimes we may feel that a deeper inspection is need. When we do, we will discuss with you the reason why we feel it is needed. If a level 2 inspection is being done, a video inspection is always done!Learn more about levels of inspection here.

Do I need to clean out my fireplace before you arrive?

No. We are happy to clean the ashes out of the fireplace for you.

What about my pets?

We love animals! Unless you want to have them in another room, we are happy to greet them. Pets usually are intelligent enough to know when they need to be out of the way of our work. We are careful to keep doors and gates closed so your pets remain safe.
